There is no such hotel as a hotel without flaws. I believe that what it comes down to are how well the hotel manages the compromises that will make “One size fit all” and the attention to detail, both in hotel and room design and in the daily management.

At the Nikko Hotel, the customer service I encountered was great. The hotel has an incredible functional design, while stil being aesthetically pleasing. For an experienced traveller, it was one happy discovery after the other. To mention a few: - AC is highly adjustable and well functioning, cooling the room while avoiding the draft you often experience elsewhere. - The fitness center is extremely well equipped and nice and cool (This sufficiently cooled room was a first for me here in Bangkok). The staff were very welcoming and nice. - In the room, the Japanese toilet is a wonderful invention that honestly ought to be standard in any 5 star hotel. - I had a huge bathtub and shower with a large window into the bedroom, I loved the design. Some other reviewers complain about somewhat dim lights in that area, and that is true. For me it was only just adequate. - Upon check out I went to the cafe in the lobby area, where I was not only recognized and greeted welcome back (I had been there once, the day before), but the waiter was also able to recollect my 3 item order from the day before including a few customizations to it. I have honestly never experienced that before and would happily have settled for just being recognized as a customer. I could go on and on about the niceties, but the list would be endless. On the flip side I have to admit that the pool area is good, not great. The pool itself is great and far bigger than it looks, I liked it a lot. I think the experience comes down to the fact that the JAL hotel is situated just in front of the pool and makes it feel a bit claustrophobic. Anyway I had a great time there and the water was clean and nice.

- The hotel is extremely well situated, with tons of food places to explore right outside the hotel. There is also a small and quiet shopping centre within the hotel itself, offering a couple of restaurants. - The staff were very friendly and welcoming. - Used the pool in the evening and that was great (pool towels provided at entry to the pool) as we had it practically to ourselves with one other person using the loungers. - A bonus was the footpath that links directly from the hotel to BTS Thong Lor, it is owned by the hotel which ensures the path remains uncluttered for easy access to the hotel. - Didn’t have breakfast so can’t comment on it.

Breakfast was outstanding, the location of the hotel is also very convenient. The hotel itself - and also the next door JAL City - have excellent restaurant options. The Japanese food is amazing. There even was a little Kaldi Cafe which serves pretty good coffee! It was basically a tiny Tokyo in the middle of Bangkok.

Floris

Breakfast location was great - so much light, setup was spacious, good variety of food, staff very friendly, professional and helpful, toilet very clean too. In summary, it was a nice place to have breakfast and chill, relax, atmosphere/environment very calm and reassuring.

Excellent hotel with attentive staff. I expressed a preference for a quiet room. Was given a nice room on the 14th floor, which was more quiet and tranquil than a beachfront bungalow on Samui, while located right in the heart of Sukhumvit. Would definitely stay here again.
